Our Pastor

Reverend Edward G. Boston, MD, FACOG

We are thankful to have Dr. Boston as Pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church, Yorktown, VA since his election in February 2017.  He served as a Deacon from 2002- 2005 until he was called into the Ministry.  He served as an Associate Minister until being elected as Pastor and has been a member since 1998.  Dr. Boston attended Seminary at the Friendship Institute of Theology in Newport News, Virginia.

Dr. Boston was born in Martin County, North Carolina to the late William and Matilda Boston, Jr and is the seventh of ten children born to this union.  He received Christ as a child at age seven while attending the Bible Way Church of Christ in Williamston, NC.

 

He graduated from East End High School, Robersonville, North Carolina in 1969 as the Valedictorian. He attended Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, NC and graduated in 1973 as the Valedictorian, and Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science in Pre-Medicine/Chemistry/Mathematics. He attended college with a full academic scholarship.

 

Dr. Boston attended Meharry Medical College and graduated in 1977 with his Doctor of Medicine Degree. He attended medical school with a full scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Navy. He completed his Internship at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in General Surgery in 1978 and went on Active Duty with the U.S. Navy. He practiced General and Emergency Medicine for six years. He then came to Portsmouth Naval Hospital from 1984- 1988 and completed a residency in Obstetrics/Gynecology.

 

He served on active duty until October 1998, retiring as a Captain with more than twenty five years of service.

 

Dr. Boston is married to the former Ms Deborah White of Darlington, SC. He is the proud father of two daughters, Tavia Boston Webley and Teshara Boston; two granddaughters, Taylor Little and Haley DeNeice Webley; and two grandsons, Edward Charles Jones, III (Tre) and Harper Gray Jones. He also has four goddaughters and four godsons.

   First Lady 

Deborah White Boston 

 

We are blessed to have Deborah White Boston as our First Lady.  She is a native of Darlington, SC. She was born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Marion White, Sr. of Darlington, SC. Mrs. Boston graduated from Mayo High School and attended St. Augustine’s College, Raleigh, NC where she met the love of her life.  She graduated from Francis Marion College in Florence, SC in 1975 with a degree in Psychology and Sociology. She later attained a Master’s Degree in Special Education, Severe and Profound from Norfolk State University. She was medically retired from teaching in 1993.

 

Mrs. Bostorn found Christ at an early age and attended the Lee Street Church of God in Darlington, SC.  She has been an active member of New Bethel Baptist Church since 1999 and serves on the Deaconess Ministry. She is the wife of Dr. Edward Boston and has two daughters, Tavia and Teshara.  She is also the proud grandmother of two granddaughters Taylor Little and Haley DeNeice Webley; and two grandsons Edward Charles Jones, III and Harper Gray Jones. She has four goddaughters Ashley Combs Nelson, Dominique Rosemond, Kamesha and Joi Falana; and four godsons Edward McArthur Gaye, Rory Cobb, Jr., Dr. Carlton Boyd and Edward Gray Boston II.
